The children were so excited to go to the book fair. We spoke before hand about trying to choose well. I think the children did a great job!

Hour of Code
The Hour of Code is a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify code and show that anybody can learn the basics. The Hour of Code is organized by Code.org, a public 501c3 non-profit dedicated to expanding participation in computer science by making it available in more schools, and increasing participation by women and underrepresented of colour. A coalition of partners has come together to support the Hour of Code, too - including Microsoft, Apple, Amazon, Boys and clubs of America and the College Board.
This is the website introducing the Hour of Code.

We loved welcoming George Kaye into our classroom to teach us an hour of code. In class the children learned a little about coding on computers. Then each child used i-pads to do some code. We enjoyed making the angry bird move! You can also enjoy this at home with your child. The link is below.

Make, Do and Passions!
How wonderful it has been this week to share and celebrate the children's own creations and doing things! Thank you so much for all your support. We loved the pictures, paintings, bracelets, airplanes, etc. We also loved the magic tricks we watched. They can also tell a joke, or share a photo of something they are passionate about!

Designing a playground
We have two playground consultants, Susan Goltsman and Tod Hara. They have asked for student input about what makes a great playground. We know that children are the experts at play. Today we did 2 activities. We showed the children many playground images. They discussed these playground ideas and chose their favorite three. In addition they designed alone or with a partner their most idea and fun playground activity. They loved being the designers and had so many excellent ideas.
